Kathryn Thompson, MSFT, LCMFT
Kathryn Thompson is a graduate of the family therapy master’s program at Friends University. She enjoys working with a wide variety of clients of all ages, including individuals, couples, families, and children. Ms. Thompson believes that everyone faces struggles at some point in life, and it is courage which allows us to seek help during those times. “Common issues such as depression, anxiety, relational conflict, behavioral and emotional problems, and difficulty adjusting to life transitions can all be very oppressive, yet we can often work toward more helpful ways to manage these challenges. Asking for help can be hard, and it is usually the hard things that are worth doing.”
Ms. Thompson’s approach to therapy is based upon an integrative model which focuses on improving both our inner selves and our relationships to create lasting change. “Even with what people consider to be individual problems, there are usually things we can change in our relationships to help us grow into the people we want to be. And to improve our relationships, we almost always have to work on ourselves. When clients are willing to do that work, they are often able to reach their goals.”
Ms. Thompson’s areas of interest and experience include the following:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Trauma
- Dissociation
